Helping the poor in the field of education has been a major role of Yayasan Wah Seong (YWS) as we focus mainly on providing scholarship to academically strong but financially needy or less fortunate students. Since the commencement of our Yayasan Wah Seong Scholarship Program in 2008, we have awarded 82 scholarships to students to pursue first degree courses in our local private and public universities. We have offered scholarships to students studying in the below universities:-

University Malaya (UM)
University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)
University Putra Malaysia (UPM)
University Sains Malaysia (USM)
University Utara Malaysia (UUM)
University Technology Malaysia (UTM)
International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM)
University Malaysia Sabah (UMS)
University Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas)
University Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM)
University Technology Mara (UiTM)
University Malaysia Pahang (UMP)
Advance Tertiary College (ATC)
INTI College, Nilai

38% of the scholarship recipients were orphans, abandoned children from shelter homes and from single parents (either one parent, father or mother has passed away, divorced/separated). We have also awarded scholarships to children of Wah Seong Group employees. At present, we have 22 scholars in year one to year four of their studies pursuing in the fields of Accountancy, Law, Business Administration, Management, Economics, Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical and Petroleum) and Computer Science.

The others 60 of them have already graduated in their various fields of study in Actuarial & Finance, Law, Business Administration, Business Management, Economics, Accounting, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Electrical & Electronic, Telecommunication, Biochemistry, Manufacturing, Material and Polymer), Economics, Graphic Design, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Biomedicine and Science (Genetic & Molecule Biology), Geology, Educational Science, English Language & Literature.

The selection for the scholarship awards are based on good academic results, poor income of parents and confirmation of acceptance into local Universities. In addition, we also considered other factors such as students who are orphans, come from shelter homes and from single parents; and those whose parents are elderly, or suffering from illnesses.

The Foundation is a non-profit, tax exempted organisation and all contributions to the Foundation are issued with tax-exempted receipts. Up to September 2016, YWS has committed a sum of RM1.89 million in sponsoring the scholarship program.

YWS wishes to record its appreciation and gratitude to Wah Seong Corporation Berhad, Wah Seong (Malaysia) Trading Co. Sdn Bhd, Tan Kim Yeow Sdn Bhd and Midvest Asia Sdn Bhd for their pledges to the Foundation and also to those who have generously contributed in one way or another to help the poor students in their pursuit of tertiary education.
